ABOUT US

The Dive Centre - open daily from 8am to 5pm - is located right next to the Kaena Restaurant & store on the South West corner (the best spot to watch the sun go down) opposite The Aroa Beach & Marine Reserve (look for "The big fish") and offers a range of dive options from the Discover Scuba Lagoon Dive for beginners, morning and afternoon dive trips beyond the reef, night dives for the more adventurous and PADI Dive Courses including a 2 day certification course (ideal for those with limited time) qualifying you to dive with a professional diver, plus the Open Water Diver course, Advanced Diver, Rescue Diver, and Dive Master.

Registered PADI Dive professionals Huw & Sheryl will cater dives to suit your requirements, all dives are reasonably priced and no minimum number is required.

The Dive Centre is owned and operated by PADI registered professionals; Sheryl and Huw John. Both have years of diving, boating and teaching experience worldwide.

Sheryl and Huw John owned and operated Mercury Bay Divers in New Zealand before moving to Rarotonga in 2001.

Huw John from South Wales has been diving since 1983, and been a boat owner since 1990. Huw trained as a BSAC Diver and has a wealth of diving experience in British waters. Through the 80s and 90s, Huw dived extensively around the coast of West Wales and Ireland, as well as the English Channel. Much of the diving was on wrecks. Huw has also dived in the Mediterannean and Malta and commercial Scallop diving in the Orkney islands. The last six years Huw's spent diving the Pacific and New Zealand. Huw is a Padi Master Scuba Diver Trainer, holds NZ Boatmaster cert, VHF Radio Licence, Life Saving Cert and Kayaking Instructor cert.

Sheryl John is also a Padi Master Scuba Diver Trainer, with Boatmaster, 1st aid Instructor, vhf radio licence and life saving. Sheryl from the Wairarapa, New Zealand has a B.Ed and taught for 7 years before swapping to scuba diving instruction in 1998.
